Southeast Asia Cross-border Pet Category Product Selection Warning:

In 2025, the GMV growth rate of TikTok Shop's Southeast Asian cross-border e-commerce pet products category exceeded threefold. Overall demand is rising, but not all product categories are suitable for beginners. Industry analysts categorize pet-related businesses into three groups: lightweight, non-consumable items such as pet hair rollers, poop bags, cooling pads, pet bowls, and cat litter mats-ideal for new sellers to test market fit due to their low entry barriers; high-volume, high-demand products like cat food, cat treats, wet food, cat litter, deworming medicine, and large-sized cages require strong supply chains and local warehousing support, making them less advisable for newcomers; niche blue-ocean segments including aquarium supplies, bird care products, exotic pet goods, and pet memorabilia should be approached cautiously based on individual resources.

By country, Indonesian consumers favor low-cost cat snacks and treats priced at just a few cents, while Malaysia shows demand across both high- and low-priced pet foods. Thailand has strong demand for cleaning products, and the Philippines performs well in non-food categories such as odor eliminators, grooming, and deworming products. Overall, we recommend that beginners prioritize entering the Philippine and Thai markets.

Advantages of this category include natural suitability for short-video marketing and high repurchase rates for essential consumables like cat litter and cat food, which lend themselves well to bundled sales and higher average order values. However, disadvantages include intense competition for viral hits, complex certification requirements (such as import permits or halal certification) for pet food, and high shipping costs for heavy items like cat litter and dog food, which often exceed weight limits. While established sellers view these high barriers as competitive advantages, newcomers should focus on low-cost, lightweight, compliant, low-maintenance products that are easy to photograph and currently under the radar of major players. Avoid blindly following trends by launching high-selling food items or bulky products.
